The City Government of Cadiz held a blessing and turn-over ceremony for its 4 newly acquired JMC vehicles. The blessing was officiated by Rev. Fr. Guerrero Rovero and the turn-over was led by City Mayor Salvador G. Escalante, Jr.
The JMC vehicles were turned over to the different local government offices as a supplement to the existing vehicles to provide faster and better services for the people of Cadiz.
The ambulance was turned over to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) and was received by Board Member Samson “Jongben” Mirhan.
The patrol car was turned over to the Philippine National Police (PNP) and was received by PNP OIC PLTCOL Gil John L Despi.
The canter will serve as an agricultural vehicle as it was turned over to the Office of the City Agriculturist and was received by Ms. Jocelyn Say.
The container van was turned over to the City Nutrition Office which will serve as a mobile kitchen. It was received by Ms. Cristina Wong, City Nutritionist.

The Office of the City Veterinarian headed by Dr. Josue Rabang trained Carabao dairy livestock raisers on milking and Carabao dairy management at Cadiz West II Elementary School last February 22-23, 2022.
For Day 1, “Milk Enterprise” was discussed by Ms. Eden Tio – OIC Center Director/Agriculturist II, Philippine Carabao Center La Carlota Stock Farm, while Mr. Victor Geroche – CBED Coordinator, Philippine Carabao Center La Carlota Stock Farm, lead the discussion on topics on “Best Practices on Artificial Insemination & Breeding” and “Calving Management.”
On the second day of the training “Forage Production & Conservation” and “Feeding of Buffalo at the Different Physiological Stages” were discussed by Mr. Roden Sumagaysay – Community Organizer/AI Technician Philippine Carabao Center – La Carlota Stock Farm (PCC LCSF). Ms. Eva Rom – Science Research Specialist II, (PCC LCSF) spoke about the “Common Diseases of Buffalos & Disease Prevention & Control” and “Proper Housing of Calves & Adults.”
City Veterinarian Dr. Josue Rabang lead the event and City Councilors Hon. Vincent Escalante and Hon. Marlon Metoda also gave their respective messages.
Ms. Eden Tio talked about the “Milk Collection & Storage,” “Hygienic Milk Handling Practices,” and “Basic Financial Management.”
In culmination, the Office of the City Veterinarian together with the staff of the Philippine Carabao Center – La Carlota Stock Farm distributed certificates to the participants.

The City Environment and Natural Resources Offices turned over Personal Protective Gears to 61 Bantay Bukid Brigade members of the different barangays in Cadiz City in the Turn Over Ceremony last February 28, 2022 at the Philippine Normal University Covered Court.
In a message delivered by Punong Barangay Harry Lamis of Barangay Magsaysay, the Bantay Bukid Brigade members were recognized for their sacrifices and efforts in the campaign towards environmental protection.
CENRO head Engr. Florentino Caceres continues to encourage all personnel assigned to forest protection and law enforcement to be prepared and be well-informed in the comprehensive areas of conserving and managing our forest resources.

The Office of the City Agriculturist of Cadiz City has been awarded as the Outstanding Provincial School-on-Air on Smart Rice Agriculture (SOA-SRA) Implementer during the Ceremonial Mass Graduation last December 16, 2021 in Talisay City.
Mr. Arnold H. Montuya of the same office was also recognized as an Outstanding Provincial SOA-SRA Coordinator.
Dubbed as “PalayAralan: Makabagong Pagsasaka sa Himpapawid”, the SOA-SRA is designed to unify all radio programs of the DA about the cutting-edge technologies and groundbreaking approaches and help optimize farm yields in medium and low-yielding provinces while reducing production cost by addressing location and season-specific constraints in the regions.
100 Cadiz City farmers graduated from the Wet Season (June-September) SOA-SRA Program.
City Agriculturist Enrique Escares is thankful for the support of Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr., the OCAG Cadiz staff, the Cadiz City FITS Center, and the program implementers: DA-RFO6, ATI Region 6, PhilRice, and the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist – Negros Occidental.
To create awareness and encourage farmers to adopt and sustain the use of the various smart rice technologies is the end goal of the program. The knowledge that SOA-SRA provides will be an aid in achieving food security and increased livelihood of our farmers.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) VI – Negros Occidental conducted an intensive rollout re-orientation about the Barangay Drug Clearing Program last February 22, this year, at the Cadiz Arena.
In partnership with the Cadiz City Government and the Cadiz Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC), headed by City Mayor Salvador G. Escalante Jr., the activity was part of the PDEA’s continuing campaign against illegal drugs and capacity enhancement for the regional offices.
Resource speakers included Jyxyvzcjy Escrupolo, Investigation Agent III of PDEA VI – Negros Occidental; and Reubelyn J. Mandaguit, Intelligence Officer I, PDEA VI – Negros Occidental.
PLTCOL Gil John Despi, OIC-Cadiz City Police Station, also provided the participants with updates about PNP accomplishments on its campaign against drug abuse and other allied issues.
The activity aimed to empower and strengthen the functionalities and effectiveness of the Barangay Drug Abuse Council (BADAC), to orient the BADAC about the standardized process in the conduct of validation of barangays with drug Cleared Status from Calendar Year 2016 to October 5, 2020, as per PDEA Memorandum Circular 2021-003,
to orient the BADAC about the standardized vetting process and confirmation of unaffected barangays as “drug-free” as per PDEA Memorandum Circular 2021-007, and to discuss the Omnibus Procedure of Barangay Drug Clearing Program for the remaining uncleared affected barangays and orientation on DDB Reg. N0. 4, series of 2021.
