Cadiz City created a difference when it re-launched the ‘Star Ka Sa Cadiz 2018’ last October 28, at the Drilon’s Covered Court, Philippine Normal University Visayas.
The longest-running program ever initiated by the Information Management Unit of the City Mayor’s Office last October 2009 and culminated during the Dinagsa Festival in January 29, 2010, this Season 2 kicked off with about 70 contestants for singing contest bracket A and B, and hip-hop dance contest.
With the Bacolod’s Critical Breakdown and World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA)’s Lordcint Agbas Moratilla as guest performers, the launching program was attended by Board Member Salvador Escalante Jr., Mayor Patrick Escalante, Vice Mayor Lilia Decolongon, city councilors, department heads, barangay officials, Department of Education (Dep-Ed) officials and students from various schools.
The ‘Star Ka Sa Cadiz 2018’ Season 2’s monthly finals will run through October 29, November 25 and December 30 and January 13, 2018. The grand finals will fall on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at the new Cadiz Arena.
Resident judges were Sandra Ardenia, Ramea Romero and Ma. Concepcion Jesiree Monteposo for singing contest; and Denmark Yonson, Ritchel Delmo and Simon Kerbey Vejano for hip-hop dance contest.
The ‘Star Ka Sa Cadiz’ is the City’s information arm that provides the Cadiznon community with the latest updates about the programs and activities, as well as the accomplishment of the local government.
This creative platform for information dissemination has three (3) categories. These include the singing contest bracket A (Ages 6 – 12), singing contest bracket B (Ages 13 – 30) and the hip-hop dance contest.
This series of talent search is aimed: 1. To update the Cadiznon community about the state of affairs, as well as the accomplishments of Cadiz City; 2. To search for and unleash the ultimate, world-class Cadiznon talents that could rise in the global stages; 3. To provide the local talents with a venue for enhancement and development;
4. To provide the talented Cadiznons with an opportunity to make the City famous by participating in the local and international competitions; 5. To promote good friendship and sportsmanship among singers and dancers in the city; and, 6. To promote closeness and understanding among the City’s 22 barangays.
