Cadiz observes environment week

Cadiz City celebrated the “Environment Week 2017” last June 26 – 30, with the theme “13 years of connecting Cadiznon to Nature”, using the hashtag #OnewithNature.

    Implemented by the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (City-ENRO), the week-long activities started with the “Lakad – Dampot sa Kalikasan”, along Gustilo – Cabahug Streets and Villena – Abelarde Streets and the Best Practices for all barangays and other organizations on June 26.

    June 27 capped the Expanded Basura Art Skills for elementary schools and the 22 barangays and the Department of Education (Dep-Ed)’s ‘Binalaybay Contest’. 

    All barangays and the schools initiated a Mural Art Painting at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and the Dr. Vicente F. Gustilo Memorial National High School (DrVFGMNHS)on June 28.

    While the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-hosted Environ Quiz Bee and the Philippine Normal University Visayas (PNUV)-sponsored Environmental Poster and Slogan Contest were held in the afternoon.

    Other activities included the Tree Growing Activity at Barangay Jerusalem, Mangrove Planting at Barangay Daga and clean-up drive at all barangays last June 29.

    The celebration culminated with the awarding of Localized Seal of Good Environmental Governance for barangays, local and national offices.
