The City Government of Cadiz held its First Monday of the Month Flag Ceremony for August on August 4, 2025, at the Cadiz City Arena. In his message, City Mayor Hon. Salvador G. Escalante Jr. reflected on the key events of the past month, highlighting the recent State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., where the national concern on water supply and consumption was addressed. Mayor Escalante echoed this issue in the context of Cadiz City, noting that the local government is actively working to resolve water service challenges in coordination with PrimeWater. He also expressed gratitude to all Cadiznons for their support during the city’s successful 58th Charter Day celebration and for his recent election as the new President of Negros ACE (Association of Chief Executives).
Vice Mayor Hon. John Vincent Escalante also gave an inspiring message, reporting on the city council's accomplishments during their first month in office, including the assignment of new committee chairmanships. He assured the public that committee hearings and follow-ups are already being conducted to address the city’s water concerns. He left the employees with two powerful reminders: “Be kind, even when it’s hard,” and “Work hard, even when no one is watching.”
City Councilors present were Hon. Marlon Metoda, Hon. Claire Therese Consing, Hon. Frances Guanzon, Hon. Maricel Desuyo, Hon. Fria Cristine Cervantes-Napiza, Hon. Lalen Lamis, Hon. Paulene Decolongon, Hon. Cedric Jon Nido Olvido, and Hon. Vicente William Tabanao.
Highlights of the accomplishments shared included the Cadiznon Ultra Marathoners’ participation in the San Carlos Road Stallions 50KM Ultra Marathon Challenge, the national recognition of the DSWD's 'Adopt a Cerebral Palsy' program as a PANATA Ko sa Bayan awardee, and the achievements of the Schools Division of Cadiz City at the Palarong Pambansa and the World Robot Contest (WRC) 2025 held in Vietnam, among others.
Three newly passed ordinances were also announced:
• City Ordinance 04-2025 – Granting monthly honoraria to 22 Violence Against Women (VAW) Desk Officers in Cadiz City;
• City Ordinance 05-2025 – Renaming the "Cadiz City Health Office" to "Cadiz City Primary Care Facility";
• City Ordinance 06-2025 – Strengthening the Pre-Marriage Orientation and Counseling (PMOC) Program of Cadiz City.
The ceremony served not only as a platform to recognize city milestones and policy developments but also as a reaffirmation of Cadiznon values: service, compassion, and excellence.
